The City Wide Pride Beautification Program was created in 1990 by the Cerritos City Council with the goal of preserving and enhancing the beautiful, park-like appearance of the residential neighborhoods in Cerritos. The program is coordinated by the Property Preservation Commission to honor hardworking property owners for outstanding maintenance of their homes.

Above all, the program is meant to serve as a catalyst, encouraging all Cerritos residents to take pride in their homes. To involve and honor as many property owners as possible, the Commission adopted a policy that homes receiving a Grand Prize Award will be ineligible for a subsequent award for one year. With this policy, more than 1,800 deserving honorees have been recognized from 1990 to 2009.
