Emergency Volunteers

In our continuing efforts to ensure that there is an adequate response available in the event of a disaster or major incident within the City of Cerritos, we are asking for your assistance. Police, fire and other emergency services are frequently strained when these situations arise.

Therefore, we are seeking Block Captains, members of our Cerritos Crime Prevention Team (CCPT), Neighborhood Watch members and concerned residents who are willing to:

1. Volunteer to respond to a command post within the City when an emergency or disaster occurs;

2. Be placed on a 24-hour call out list; and,

3. Attend two to four training sessions per year on Homeland Security, disaster response and related topics at a location in Cerritos to be determined.

If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact the Cerritos Community Safety Division at (562) 916-1266. We will request your name, address, phone number and e-mail address and place you on a roster for notification when scheduled training is conducted and when you are needed in the event of an emergency or disaster.

If at any time you wish to be removed from the list, simply call the same number and make that request.

Please visit our website at www.safercerritos.com for more information on crime prevention, personal safety, Homeland Security and a variety of other topics intended to increase our awareness and preparedness.
